Crowthorne, and the roads through the pines

Crowthorne is a village with a lot of forest around it. That makes for pleasant roads and poor visibility when something goes wrong on one.

Duke's Ride and the roads out towards Nine Mile Ride are lined with trees and have no street lighting worth relying on, so a car stopped on a verge at night is genuinely hard to see. We come with lights and cones for that reason. Pine roots lift the tarmac at the edges into ridges that catch a wheel and split a sidewall. The College and hospital roads carry shift traffic at unsociable hours. In the village itself the parking on the High Street is angled and the kerbs are high.

Unlit verge at night: hazards on, get everyone out on the side away from traffic, then ring. We would rather you waited behind a tree than in the car.
