Holes
A legal puncture repair, done at the car
A nail in the middle of the tread is often a repair. A slash in the wall is not. We look at it on the car, tell you which it is, and either plug and patch to spec or fit a replacement. You hear the answer before we start.
On the ground
- We inspect from the inside when the job needs it, not only a surface plug
- Wall damage, shoulder damage, and previous botched plugs get a no
- If a repair will not hold, we price a tyre instead of hoping
- Slow leaks get the same look — valve, bead, or a hole
What people ask
Can every puncture be repaired?
No. The repairable zone is the centre of the tread. Sidewall, shoulder, and anything too close to a previous repair is a new tyre. We will not sell you a repair that will fail on the A30.
It is only a slow hiss.
Slow is still a hole, a valve, or a bead. We find which. Do not keep topping it up for a week and then call at midnight on a dual carriageway.
Will you repair a run-flat?
Often no — manufacturers are strict, and a run-flat that has been driven flat is usually scrap. We tell you on inspection, not after a pretend patch.
