RG40
Wokingham and Finchampstead
Wokingham town centre and then a long stretch of countryside south of it. Two very different sets of problems in one postcode.
In town the parking is decked and the streets around the market place are narrow and one-way, so getting a van beside a car is half the job. The station car park is the classic: a commuter comes back after dark to a wheel on the rim. South of the town, Nine Mile Ride runs dead straight through the trees and drivers carry more speed than the surface deserves; the verges there are soft and the drainage gullies are deep. Finchampstead lanes are single-track with passing places, and the country park car park is gravel with a rough entrance.
Station car park after dark: park under a light if you can and tell us the row. It makes finding you a matter of seconds.
