Windlesham. Lanes, drives and no pavement

One postcode, one village, and roads that were never widened. Windlesham is close enough to be home ground.

Almost everything here happens off the main road. The lanes run between high banks and hedges with no footway and nowhere to pull in, so a car stopped on a bend is a hazard before it is a tyre job. Drives are long, gravel and often flint-heavy, and flint is what does the damage — a cut sidewall from gravel is not repairable no matter how small it looks. Kerbing is the other half of the work, picked up at the pinch points where two cars meet and someone has to give way to the verge.
