GU11
Aldershot, the garrison and the Wellington Centre
A run out from Virginia Water, and worth saying so plainly: Aldershot is not on our doorstep. We come, and we tell you before we set off.
The town is a mix of Victorian terraced streets and garrison estate, and the two produce different jobs. In the terraces it is kerbside parking, cracked alloys and slow leaks. On the garrison side the roads are wide but the traffic is heavy, and vehicles that sit unused for long stretches come back to flat spots and perished sidewalls. Wellington Centre parking is decked and gets tight in the afternoon. Older tarmac around the ranges throws grit and stone chips that end up in the tread.
This one is a drive for us. You will get a straight yes or no on the phone rather than a van that never turns up.
